R&D Manager

As R&D Manager of Dextra, you will oversee the research and development activities within the company. In this role you will be accountable for managing projects, leading a team of engineers and technicians, and ensuring the successful development of new products and technologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, project management, and product development.
You will be responsible for:

Management and Leadership:
    Lead and mentor the team of engineers and in their assignments, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
    Coordinate activities with other functions and departments, ensuring seamless integration and communication across the organization.
    Set project priorities based on their strategic importance to the Group, ensuring alignment with overall business goals.
    Organize and participate in knowledge transfer within Dextra Group, promoting continuous learning and development.
    Prepare and present weekly and monthly reports, including detailed time management and risk analysis, to keep stakeholders informed and projects on track.
    Propose and implement in coordination with HR the learning path of direct subordinates consistently with Dextra's needs (Individual Development Plans).
    Implement the HR Policies and the company PMS process (set up KPls and competencies, regular feedback and 1/1, final assessment, career path proposition).
    Keeps management informed about progress and problems, mitigate risks, and propose action plan.
    Contribute to the Company Dashboards elaboration and filing.

Research:
    Stay updated with the latest industry trends, scientific advancements, and competitor activities.
    Conduct feasibility studies to evaluate the potential of new ideas and technologies.
    Lead the design and execution of experiments to test hypotheses and validate concepts.
    Analyze experimental data and interpret results to guide further research.
    Develop and present recommendations and proposals related to product design and manufacturing, based on thorough calculations and simulations.
    Assist in validating construction method trials in the workshop as needed.
    Collaborate with academic institutions and research organizations to leverage external expertise and resources.
    Prepare detailed technical reports and research papers for internal and external dissemination.

Development:
    Develop and implement innovative solutions for mechanical splices, bar system products, and tools.
    Oversee the design, prototyping, and testing of new products to ensure they meet performance and safety standards.
    Work closely with the production team to ensure manufacturability and scalability of new products.
    Optimize product designs for cost, performance, and reliability.
    Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements throughout the development process.
    Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, assembly instructions, testing protocols, and product datasheets, as well as participate in the preparation of commercial documentation of new products.
    Supply the Marketing Department with materials on developments for external communication and validate customers are informed about document updates.
    Participate in engineering changes within the company, ensuring smooth transitions, compliance with standard and quality requirements and minimal disruptions.
    Collaborate with other functions to ensure that development projects are successfully executed across the group.

Project Management
    Implement and oversee project management systems to ensure a systematic approach to all R&D projects.
    Plan and manage R&D projects from concept to industrialization and market release.
    Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
    Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
    Monitor project progress and adjust as necessary to ensure successful completion.
    Coordinate with cross-functional teams within the Group, including production, engineering, quality assurance, and marketing, to ensure seamless project execution.
    Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to address potential challenges.
    Prepare and present project status reports to senior management and other stakeholders.

You may also be assigned additional duties as needed.
On the scope of work described above, produce weekly and monthly reports to your manager to track the project advancements (actual vs forecast) including root cause analysis.

Requirements 
    At least a Bachelor, or master's degree in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, or other related Engineering disciplines.
    At least 10 years of relevant experience in product development, structural design or design engineering, with strong background in project management
    Experience working in similar management role, leading technical teams toward successful product delivery
    Good written and verbal communication skill
    CAD application
    SolidWorks/ SolidWorks PDM
    Microsoft Office

    Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    Self-initiative
    Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
    Knowledge of construction products and machine equipment.
    Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements.
