Business Development Manager: role & purpose
The Business Development Manager is a strategic market development and demand creation role, responsible for expanding the presence and adoption of Dextra solutions (Bars, Geotec, FRP) through early-stage influence and upstream engagement.
He/She drives market penetration by targeting key applications, consultants, authorities, and project owners, ensuring Dextra systems are specified, approved, and positioned early in the design phase.
Acting as a bridge between markets, Product Management, Engineering, and Sales, the role shapes technical preference, contributes to long-term growth, and supports revenue generation by enabling project capture through specification influence and standardization. This role is not a sales function but is a key commercial growth enabler within the new organization.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Market Development & Demand Creation
- Identify and prioritize high‑potential applications, segments and stakeholders to accelerate specification and market penetration.
- Target key consultants, designers, project owners and authorities to influence early design decisions.
- Support regional teams on mega‑projects, strategic customers, and cross‑territory opportunities.
- Actively support and align with the global Key Account Management approach by contributing upstream insights, technical positioning, and specification strategies for Dextra’s Key Accounts.
- Provide early upstream intelligence to regions and BD leadership to maximize Dextra’s commercial positioning on major projects.
- Work closely with regional Sales teams to support the conversion of specification wins into revenue, tracking influence-to-sales conversion.
Specification Influence & Stakeholders Engagement
- Promote Dextra solutions to engineering firms, designers, consultants, authorities and project owners and drive adoption of Dextra technical specifications for Bars, Geotec and FRP Products.
- Drive the adoption of Dextra technical specifications in early design stages
- Deliver technical presentations and value‑engineering discussions that support commercial differentiation.
- Maintain active engagement throughout early project phases to secure specification positioning.
- Support regions in adapting and deploying specifications according to local market needs.
Market Intelligence & Portfolio Feedback
- Identify product gaps, market opportunities, and competitive threats, then communicate these to Product Management for roadmap alignment.
- Provide structured feedback on application trends, market needs, and competitor strategies.
- Propose improvements to existing specifications based on field experience, project feedback, and market evolution.
- Provide guidance to regions on how to adopt or adapt specifications for local markets.
Technical Advocacy and Sales Enablement
- Consolidate and structure testing evidence in coordination with Product Management, Product Engineering & Performance, and QC to support approvals, specifications, and technical credibility, ensuring full traceability and compliance.
- Develop and maintain design guidance notes, standard technical details, and application recommendations.
- Provide concept-level technical support (design justification, compliance note) during complex tenders and strategic pursuits.
- Support approvals, certifications, and acceptance by authorities and key clients.
- Maintain Dextra’s presence on approved product lists for consultants, contractors, and governmental authorities and track inclusion in ongoing tenders and projects
- Clearly communicate Dextra’s technical advantages and validated product capabilities to project stakeholders.
- Ensure that all specifications, design notes, and technical positioning remain fully aligned with validated product capabilities and approved performance limits.
Market Intelligence & Portfolio Feedback
- Identify product gaps, emerging applications, and competitive threats.
- Provide structured market feedback to Product Management to support roadmap alignment.
- Propose improvements to specifications based on field experience and market evolution.
- Highlight opportunities where Dextra is underrepresented and support targeted penetration strategies.
Standardization & Industry Positioning
- Participate in national and international standardization committees, technical working groups, and industry associations, to support market acceptance and commercial growth.
- Lead submissions and documentation supporting standards, approvals, and regulatory recognition.
- Advocate for acceptance of Dextra solutions within applicable codes and approval frameworks.
- Track and analyze upcoming regulatory changes impacting Bars, Geotec, or FRP Products.
- Ensure all standardization initiatives support long-term product positioning and market growth.
Scope Boundaries:
The role directly contributes to revenue growth by creating demand, enabling specifications, and supporting strategic project capture.

- Product Management – roadmap alignment, product capabilities, positioning, market feedback
- Product Engineering and Performance / QC – testing evidence, compliance, qualification, technical validation
- Business Development Leadership – targeting strategy and mega-projects positioning
- Commercial Operations - Tender & Project Mgt – feasibility input and technical clarifications during early tender phases
- Regional Sales Teams – Opportunity conversion, project intelligence, consultant contacts, local specification needs, strategic client focus, key accounts, mega‑projects.
- Key Account Managers – alignment on upstream engagement, specification strategy, and long-term technical positioning of Dextra with global and regional key accounts.

Guardian of quality and nuclear safety:
- Ensure that specifications and standardization activities comply with nuclear safety requirements.
- Provide accurate and conservative technical justification for nuclear projects.
- Escalate any safety-related concern to Product Engineering and Performance or Management.
- Maintain traceable and validated technical documentation.
Qualifications:
- Engineering degree (Civil, Structural, Mechanical) preferred; MSc in Engineering or equivalent training is a plus.
- 5-8 years working with engineering firms, technical sales, specifications, consulting, or standardization bodies.
- Excellent command of spoken and written English.
- Strong in MS Office, CRM/PLM tools, documentation systems; Power BI is a plus
- Ability to leverage AI-based tools to improve efficiency, analyze information, and support decision-making.
- Comfortable engaging with consultants, authorities, and technical committees
- Ability to write clear and robust technical specifications
- Strong influence and advocacy capabilities
